Tyer Recipe

  • Hook curved caddis/scud hook, 12-16
  • Thread Brown 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold or black bead (1)
  • Dubbing body Green or amber dubbing (as needed)
  • Wire rib Gold wire (1 length)
  • Soft hackle collar Partridge/brown (1 turn)
  • Thorax dubbing Brown dubbing (pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye, start thread and wrap to above the barb.
  2. Tie in the wire rib, then dub a plump tapered abdomen two-thirds up the shank.
  3. Rib the wire forward in open spirals and tie off.
  4. Dub a short dark thorax behind the bead.
  5. Wrap one turn of soft partridge hackle as legs and sweep the fibres back.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
