Tungsten slotted bead Coffee brown (One, 7/64 inch)
Marabou blood quill Olive marabou (One plume, tips for the tail, the rest twisted for the body)
Wire Red, small (One length for the rib)
Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (One or two short strands for the collar)
How to tie it
Slide a 7/64 inch coffee brown tungsten slotted bead onto a #14 jig hook, twisting it so the slot seats down over the eye, and set the hook in the vise.
Start red thread behind the bead and lay a base to the bend, tying in a length of small red wire at the rear.
Select a good broad olive marabou blood quill; strip a bunch of the tips and tie them in at the bend as a tail about one shank-length long with no flash added, so the marabou can move freely.
Twist the remaining marabou butts into a loose rope and wind it forward up the shank to just behind the bead to form a soft, tapered body; tie off and trim.
Rib the body with four or five open turns of red wire for durability and to suggest gills, tie the wire off behind the bead and break the tag free.
Tie in a short strand or two of peacock herl and take a few turns as a collar right behind the bead to cover the space where the body meets the bead.
