Tyer Recipe

  • Hook 2-3XL streamer/nymph hook, 6-12
  • Thread Black or maroon 6/0

Materials

  • Marabou tail Black or maroon marabou (1 plume)
  • Dubbing body Black or maroon dubbing (as needed)
  • Ruby/red bead-chain eyes Red dumbbell eyes (1 pair)
  • Wire rib Copper wire (1 length)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread behind the eye and secure a pair of red bead-chain eyes at the front.
  2. Wrap to above the barb and tie in a marabou tail one shank-length long.
  3. Tie in the wire rib, then dub a tapered body forward to behind the eyes.
  4. Rib the wire forward in open spirals and tie off.
  5. Figure-eight the thread around the eyes, build a head and whip finish.
