How to tie it
Slide the glow bead to the eye and wrap about 12 turns of 0.020 lead behind it; bind everything down.
Take the thread to above the barb. Roll a pinch of the claret angora blend between your fingers, tie it in just ahead of the barb as the tail, then fold it back over itself and tie it down to the barb. Folding makes the tail stronger.
Tie in the fine wire at the tail and half-hitch.
Dub a very thin underbody of peacock Ice Dub up to the bead, just enough to cover the shank.
Make the hackle brush: lay a very sparse amount of the claret blend across the thread and close the wire over it (dubbing loop and twister on a standard vise), then spin until the fibers stand perpendicular. Less is more. That pinch does three flies.
Wrap the brush forward in open turns like a hackle, teasing the fibers back with each turn; the body must stay slender.
Tie off the wire behind the bead with a solid, multi-turn whip finish; cement the tie-off.
Pick the fibers out with a wire dubbing brush or velcro, then sweep everything back with a toothbrush so it lies close but keeps its translucency.
