Tyer Recipe

  • Hook 2-3XL streamer/nymph hook, 6-12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Marabou tail Black marabou (1 plume)
  • Marabou or seal-type dubbing body Black dubbing (as needed)
  • Wire rib Copper or red ultra wire (1 length)
  • Bead or cone (optional) Black/copper bead (1)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread behind the eye and wrap to above the barb.
  2. Tie in a black marabou tail about one shank-length long.
  3. Tie in the wire rib at the rear.
  4. Dub or wrap a tapered marabou/dubbing body forward to just behind the eye.
  5. Spiral the wire rib forward in open turns to segment and reinforce the body, then tie off.
  6. Brush out the body slightly for movement, build a small head and whip finish.
