How to tie it
Slide the glow glass bead to the eye and wrap lead over the front half of the shank only. The fly should sink slowly, not jig. Bind the lead down.
Lay the thread base to the bend and tie in a slender tail, about one shank-length, of the marabou-like fluff plucked from the base of a brown saddle hackle.
Tie in the small copper wire at the bend.
Tie in several dyed peacock herls by their tips (tips-first keeps the flue buggier), twist and wrap a slender herl body forward to the bead.
Counter-wrap the copper wire through the herl for reinforcement, but don't cut it.
Load a very sparse pinch of UV2 Seal-X into the remaining wire and spin it into a dubbing brush (a dubbing loop works on a standard vise); brush the fibers out well.
Wrap the brush in open turns as a thin veil so the herl underbody still shows through; tie off behind the bead.
Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
Brush the fibers back along the body, and pluck out any UV strands that glare too brightly. Subtle is right for low light.
