Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Saltwater, stainless, 1/0-2
  • Thread White 3/0

Materials

  • Bucktail White bucktail (tail)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (few strands)
  • Closed-cell foam strip Tan or white closed cell foam strip (shellback and lip)
  • Saddle hackle White or grizzly saddle hackle (1 for palmer)

How to tie it

  1. Attach thread at the bend and tie in a bucktail tail with a few strands of flash over it.
  2. Tie in a strip of foam at the bend, then tie in a saddle hackle by the tip.
  3. Advance the thread to behind the eye, then palmer the hackle forward and tie it off.
  4. Pull the foam strip forward over the top to form the body shell and tie down behind the eye.
  5. Leave a short tab of foam projecting over the eye as the lip; whip finish.
