Tyer Recipe
- Hook Jig hook (Partridge Patriot / Ideal jig), barbless, 12
- Thread Pink 12/0
Materials
- Slotted faceted tungsten bead Pink egg bead (1, sized to hook)
- Hare's mask (guard hairs) Natural hare s ear dubbing (Small bunch for tail)
- Hare's mask dubbing Natural hare s ear dubbing (Body)
- Oval tinsel / micrometal Gold oval tinsel (1 strand for rib)
- Hare's-ear ice dub Hare's ear (or pink) (Thorax collar)
How to tie it
- Seat the pink slotted tungsten bead on the jig hook, slot up, and lock it with thread just behind the bead; wrap back to the point.
- Tie in a soft tail of longer hare's-mask cheek hairs, one shank-length long, removing some underfur so it stays sparse.
- Tie in the gold oval tinsel/micrometal rib, sliding it up to the bead.
- Wax the thread, spin a slim noodle of chopped hare's-mask dubbing, and wrap a slightly tapered body forward to just behind the bead.
- Rib the gold tinsel forward over the body in evenly spaced open turns and tie off with a couple of turns in front.
- Spin a small amount of hare's-ear ice dub and wind a short, buggy collar behind the bead as a hot-spot thorax.
- Whip finish behind the bead, trim any stray long fibers, and add a drop of cement.
