How to tie it
Start the olive thread on the size 8 streamer hook.
Tie in a short wood duck flank feather at the bend as a tail, tipped slightly upward, and cover all the butts with thread. Anything left showing telegraphs through the body.
Add a few wraps of hot pink (or any bright) thread over the rear shank; it will glow through the translucent body.
Tie in the wide Mirage Flashabou, take the thread forward, and wrap the Flashabou in overlapping turns to cover the shank (with narrower Mylar, wrap front-to-back-to-front); tie off at the front.
Coat the body with thin UV resin and cure. The pink underbody shows through.
Tie in a sparse underwing of emerald baitfish Krystal Flash reaching to the end of the tail; nip off any overlong strands.
Tie a small bunch of thin gold fibers beneath the shank as a centered throat.
Roll a long, well-marked mallard flank feather between your fingers rolled-muddler style, set it on top with a soft turn, then tighten and lock the wing down.
Whip finish a neat head, stick a tape eye on each side, then dab UV resin over the eyes and into the base of the wing to set its angle; cure.
