Materials

  • Slotted bead Chartreuse slotted tungsten bead (1 (3/32 inch))
  • Grizzly hackle fibers (tail) Dark olive grizzly hackle fibers (small bunch)
  • Small wire (rib) Green small wire (1 length)
  • Magnum holographic Flashabou (body) Olive crinkle flash fine (2 strands)
  • Collar blend: chopped Shadow dubbing + peacock black Ice Dub Dark olive/peacock collar blend chopped shadow dubbing black ice dub (small amount)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the 3/32-inch chartreuse slotted bead on the size 14 jig hook and start the chartreuse thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a short tail of dark olive grizzly hackle fibers at the bend, the natural taper of hackle fibers makes a neat tail.
  3. Tie in the small green wire, then two strands of olive holographic Flashabou at the bend.
  4. Wrap the Flashabou forward for a flat, even body up to the bead. No taper needed, the collar provides the profile; tie off.
  5. Reverse-wrap the green wire forward in open turns to protect the body and tie off behind the bead with a half hitch.
  6. Trap the collar blend between the thread and a fine wire (or use a dubbing loop), spin it tight, and wrap a collar right behind the bead so the fibers flare out to the sides.
  7. Tie off the wire, pulling the tag down tight to the shank before trimming, and whip finish.
  8. Add a drop of head cement behind the bead.
