Start the red thread on the size 14 hook and run it to the bend.
Strip about six even pheasant tail fibers and tie them in at the bend as a tail about half a shank-length long, leaving the butts unclipped on top of the shank. They become the shellback.
Tie in the gold wire rib.
Dub a thin, tapered body of the Arizona synthetic peacock/hare's ear blend over the rear two-thirds; trim the wildest fibers but leave it a little buggy for gills.
Pull the pheasant butts over the top as a shellback and rib body and shellback together with open turns of gold wire; tie off the wire.
Tie in a strip of Mirage opal tinsel on top at the two-thirds point for the wing case.
Dub a slightly darker hare's ear thorax over the front third, the spiky fibers become the legs.
Pull the tinsel over the thorax, tie down behind the eye, then fold it back over itself and tie again for a doubled wing case.
Whip finish, pick out the thorax fibers into legs, and coat the head and wing case with UV resin; cure.
