Brent's Magic Milky Egg

Egg · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Tyer Recipe

  • Hook TMC 105 egg hook, 4
  • Thread fire orange 6/0

Materials

  • UV Ice Wing Fiber (tail) Pearl anti static bag strip (small pinch)
  • Slush Jelly (rear body) Prawn (2 turns)
  • Slush Jelly (front body) Safety orange (1.5-2 turns)
  • Senyo's Laser Dub (veil) White laser dub (1 slim clump)
  • Head cement or UV resin Clear uv resin (1 coat)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the egg hook and lay a thread base over the short shank.
  2. Tie in a small pinch of pearl UV Ice Wing Fiber at the bend as a sparse tail about half a shank-length long.
  3. Tie in prawn-colored Slush Jelly at the bend and take two turns, stroking the fibers rearward with each turn; tie off.
  4. Tie in safety orange Slush Jelly in front of it, exposing the core string so you get a solid tie-down, and take a turn and a half to two turns, again sweeping every fiber back before the next wrap.
  5. Straighten a slim clump of white Laser Dub, lay it over one side of the egg, then fold and pull it around underneath so it envelopes the fly as a milky veil; keep it sparse, slightly fuller on the bottom.
  6. Pull the veil tails rearward, tie them down behind the eye, and build a small neat head.
  7. Whip finish and coat the head with head cement or UV resin.
