Bead (Extra large)
Crosscut rabbit strip Fluorescent fuchsia with purple-dyed tips (Hair cut from strip, tail and collar)
UV Ice Dub UV purple ice dub (Body)
Crystal hackle Fluorescent hot pink crystal hackle (Large, 1 to 1.5 turns)
Wire Red/copper wire (Small, dubbing brush core)
Dubbing wax (Optional, on the thread/wire)
How to tie it
Slide the bead on, start the black 6/0, and dress the shank back to about opposite the point.
Cut fuchsia crosscut rabbit hair off the hide, keep the guard hairs, and tie in the tail at the rear corner.
Dub the UV purple Ice Dub body forward, slightly loose so it can be bugged out later, stopping well back from the bead. The longer shank keeps the collar from crowding it.
Tie in the large hot pink crystal hackle and take one to one and a half turns for a hidden underbody of flash; tie off. The flash should live inside the fly, not take it over.
Tie in the small red wire, folded back over itself so it can't pull out. Half hitch.
Cut more crosscut rabbit off the hide, you'll fit nearly three times the hair a wrapped hide strip would give. Level the butts over the thread, and spin the wire into a tight brush; a touch of dubbing wax stops slipping. Stop when you feel the wire wanting to twist in your fingers.
Wrap the brush forward, preening the hair back with each turn, and pull the last wrap down snug in tight behind the bead.
