Cone head Fluorescent yellow cone head (1, extra large)
Lead-free wire (.035, about 10 turns)
Krystal Flash Rainbow (1 hank for tail plus accent strands)
New Age chenille Green chenille (Short body section (crystal chenille works too))
Marabou blood quills Fluorescent green marabou (2 plumes)
Marabou blood quill Fluorescent yellow marabou blood quill (1 plume for the front accent)
Head cement (Squirted under the cone)
How to tie it
Slide the cone to the eye, wrap about 10 turns of.035 lead-free wire behind it and push the wraps into the cone to lock it in place. Start the fluorescent yellow thread behind the lead.
Tie in a tail of rainbow Krystal Flash at the rear. Cut a hank in half for the right length.
Tie in the green New Age chenille and wrap a short body over the rear of the shank; this also helps prop the marabou. Tie off.
Take the first fluorescent green marabou blood quill and tie it in by the butt, lashed on sideways so the thick stem lies across the shank and the fibers stand straight out perpendicular. Bind the fibers back. The stiff butt keeps the plume flared instead of collapsing into a stick when wet.
Tie in a second green blood quill the same way just ahead of the first, again lashed sideways so it wants to stand out.
Tie in a fluorescent yellow blood quill right behind the cone and take a couple of turns as a front accent collar.
Distribute a few small bunches of rainbow Krystal Flash around the outside of the shank (a few strands at a time, working around top, sides, and back) for the outer glint.
Whip finish behind the cone, keeping the fibers swept out of the way, then squirt head cement up under the cone with a needle applicator and let it dry.
