How to tie it
Start the 6/0 Black thread and carry it, with the medium gold oval tinsel, right around the bend. Wind four or five turns of oval at the rear for the tag.
Pull the fluff from the bottom of a reddish Golden Pheasant Breast Feather, gather the fibres, and tie in a small tail so it curves upward. Half-hitch.
Dub the Rusty Brown Seal Fur blended with Rusty Brown Ice Dub onto the thread (a dubbing loop helps with seal fur) and build a buggy body up the shank.
Carry the same gold oval forward as the rib and clip it off close to the eye.
Brush the body out, level it, and preen the fibres back.
For the throat, take a smaller reddish Golden Pheasant Breast Feather from the bottom of the skin, turn the fly up, and catch it in so the fibres roll under and reach nearly to the hook point. Clip the butts.
Cut a section of Bronze Mallard with brown at the tips and grey at the butts, remove the stem, and roll it together in your fingers, preening it as you go into a single shaped wing. No married left and right slips are needed.
Set the wing by bringing the thread between your fingertips under the shank and pulling it up over the wing. Trim the butts.
Coat the head with Solarez, run a piece of hackle stem through the eye to clear any resin, and cure it with the UV light.
