Solarez (incl. Bone Dry) Clear uv resin (coat on body and head)
How to tie it
Wrap a few turns of 0.020 lead over the front third of the shank only (just enough to keep the fly swimming slow and horizontal, not jigging) and lock it with thread, leaving the very front clear for the thorax.
Tie in the copper Uni Mylar and the copper brown Straggle String at the rear.
Wrap the Mylar forward with a slight taper into the lead, keeping the body thin, and tie off at the thorax position.
Spiral the Straggle String forward over the Mylar as a rib and tie off.
Coat the body with Solarez and cure with the UV light so the rib is locked solid, the flash now glows from inside the fly.
Tie in the extra-fine wire and half-hitch. Lay the long-fibred olive dubbing along the thread (mostly to one side), fold the wire over to pinch it, and spin a dubbing brush. Use a dubbing loop on a standard vise.
Brush the rope out with an old toothbrush, then wrap the buggy olive thorax over the front quarter.
Prepare a gray partridge hackle: strip the fuzz, tie it in by the tip just behind the eye, fold the fibres, and take a turn and a half, preening the fibres rearward. Tie off.
Build a small head, whip finish with four turns, give the collar a final brush, and coat the head with Solarez Bone Dry.
