Wrap a styrofoam ball inside a small envelope of spawn netting and tie the gathered netting in near the front of the shank so the foam sits up top. A couple of turns at the front and around the base. It can wiggle slightly; that is fine, it just keeps the fly hanging in the film.
Pinch off partridge fibres with straight, lined-up tips and tie in a tail at the bend. Bind the butts down.
At the rear, tie in one fine-barbed lime green ostrich barbule.
Tie in the pearl tinsel and wrap it forward over the olive thread underbody to the thorax. The olive glows through the pearl for the 'electric' effect. Tie off.
Coat the pearl body with Solarez and cure it with the UV light.
Wind the ostrich herl forward as an open rib over the cured body so plenty of pearl shows through between turns. This gives a lovely gill effect. Tie off.
Tie a few short strands of midge flash over the top as a subtle wing. Cut it short; this is an emerger.
Prepare partridge fibres with even tips and tie a matched bunch along each side as legs.
Tie in a peacock herl behind the foam post, take a couple of turns and figure-eight around the base of the post to fill the thorax, tie off at the front, and whip finish.
