Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Wet/nymph hook, 10-14

Materials

  • Cock hackle fibres Natural brown cock hackle fibres (small bunch (tail))
  • Pheasant tail fibres Natural pheasant tail fibers (small bunch (body))
  • Copper wire Copper wire (fine, for rib)
  • Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (2 strands (thorax))
  • Hen hackle Brown hen hackle (1 (collar))

How to tie it

  1. Start thread behind the eye and run it to the hook bend.
  2. Tie in a few cock hackle fibres for a short tail about half a shank long.
  3. Tie in the fine copper wire and a small bunch of pheasant tail fibres at the bend.
  4. Wind the pheasant tail forward to two-thirds of the shank to form a slim body and secure.
  5. Counter-rib with the copper wire in four or five open turns; secure and trim.
  6. Tie in two strands of peacock herl and wind a short thorax up to the eye.
  7. Wind one or two turns of soft hen hackle as a collar and sweep the fibres back.
  8. Build a small thread head and whip finish.
