Slide the Small Black Conehead onto the hook and seat it at the eye. Behind it, wrap 0.02 Lead Wire covering about the front two thirds of the shank.
Start the 6/0 Black thread and bind in the Small Copper Wire, running the thread to the rear so the wire is tight and secure. Bring the thread back to just behind the conehead.
Tie in three or four strands of Magnum Holographic Cranberry Flashabou just behind the conehead and make sure they are fully bound down.
Spread the strands out and wrap them rearward, with the thread following behind, until the shank is covered with the holographic flash. Tie the flash off at the rear so the thread ends up at the back with the wire.
Form a dubbing loop with the thread and the copper wire. Lay a very sparse amount of Spirit River UV2 Seal-X Black across the thread, bring the wire alongside, and spin it until tight.
Brush the spun loop out well with a coarse brush so the fibres stand out; this becomes the hackle.
Wrap the brush forward in evenly spaced turns, leaving about half the underbody exposed so the flash shines through. Tie off behind the conehead and snip the excess.
Take plenty of turns with the whip finish tool behind the conehead, then pick out any trapped fibres with a bodkin. No tail is tied; the brushed-back fibres give the length.
