How to tie it
Slide the medium silver conehead to the eye and dress the shank well with the flat waxed thread.
Tie in the mylar tinsel at the rear, gold side up.
Dub the polar bear underfur thickly along the whole shank (use a dubbing loop if you don't have a rotary vise). A bulky, shaggy body is the goal.
Wrap the mylar forward silver-side-out in wide open turns for segmentation and tie it off with extra wraps (flat thread doesn't grip as well).
Pick the body out aggressively with a wire brush so plenty of underfur shrouds the tinsel.
Select a good long white blood quill, trim the fluffy tip back, tie it in by the tip at roughly 90 degrees to the shank behind the cone, and wind it so the marabou stands out and breathes; preen the fibers back as you wrap.
Repeat with a second blood quill just ahead of the first.
Fold a small clump of bluish-green polar flash around the thread and spread it over the top as a topping, enough to suggest an anchovy back without overpowering the white.
Tie in a long mallard flank feather by the tip, fold it, and take about a turn and a half as a sparse speckled collar.
Tie down, whip finish behind the cone, and cement.
