Tyer Recipe
- Hook Scud/pupa (curved) hook, 12-16
- Thread Brown 8/0
Materials
- Catgut / Liquid Lace (stretched over body) Green or amber catgut liquid lace (1 strand)
- Dubbing (underbody) Green or tan dubbing (thin)
- Dubbing (thorax) Brown/peacock dubbing (small pinch)
- Bead (optional) Black or copper slotted tungsten bead (1)
How to tie it
- If using a bead, slide it to the eye, then start thread and lay a base to the bend on the curved hook.
- Dub a thin tapered underbody along the rear two-thirds of the shank.
- Tie in the catgut strand at the bend and wrap it forward under tension in touching turns so it forms a translucent segmented body over the underbody.
- Tie off the catgut about one-third back from the eye.
- Dub a slightly fuller brown or peacock thorax up to the bead or eye.
- Whip finish and cement.
