Tyer Recipe
- Hook 3XL streamer / stillwater hook (2302-style), 8-10
- Thread Maroon or black 8/0
Materials
- Slotted tungsten or brass bead (optional) Black or copper slotted tungsten bead (1)
- Marabou Blood red / maroon (1 plume for tail)
- Krystal Flash Red / claret flash (4-6 strands)
- Ice dub or seal-fur blend Maroon / claret ice dub or seal fur blend (Body)
- Saddle or schlappen hackle Maroon / black saddle or schlappen hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
- Slide on the bead if using one, mount the hook and start the thread back to the bend.
- Tie in a maroon marabou tail one-and-a-quarter shank-lengths long, keeping it slim so it breathes.
- Add a few strands of red flash along each side of the tail, the same length as the marabou.
- Tie in a saddle hackle by the tip at the tail base, then twist maroon ice dub / seal blend onto the thread.
- Wrap a buggy dubbed body forward to just behind the bead (or eye).
- Palmer the hackle forward through the body in evenly spaced turns and tie off; sweep the fibers back.
- Build a small collar, whip finish and cement.
