How to tie it
Lay a thread base and lash a pair of large dumbbell eyes on top of the shank just behind the hook eye, X-wrapping and then circling the wraps to tighten them.
Tie in a folded clump of soft red rainbow flash at the bend so a tapered (not blunt-cut) tail extends behind the hook.
Cut the tip of the black magnum rabbit strip to a point and tie the strip down at the mid-shank point, binding the leather tightly; the tail should extend about one shank-length so short-strikers don't miss the hook.
Tie in black crosscut rabbit strip at the rear by the leather, then wrap it forward, each turn one leather-width ahead of the last, teasing the hair back as you go; stop about a half-inch behind the eyes.
Tie in the dubbing-brush wire, folding it back over itself so it cannot pull out.
Load a generous amount of the black angora goat/red flash blend into the wire, spin it into a dubbing brush, and rough it up with a stiff nylon brush.
Wrap the dubbing brush forward to the eyes, take a couple of turns, then X the brush over and around the dumbbell eyes to form the head, and tie off.
Trim the wire, bind everything down with plenty of thread, and finish with two doubled half hitches over a half-hitch tool (keeps bulky material out of the eye).
Cement the head, clear the hook eye with a bodkin, then pick out the collar fibers so the fly breathes.
