Lay a thread base the full length of the shank, then wrap 20 turns of 0.020 lead wire over the front half of the shank and bind it down.
Tie in a clump of black arctic fox at the bend for a tail about one shank-length long, combing out the underfur first.
Tie in one strand of fuchsia holographic tinsel along each side of the tail as lateral accents.
Tie in the red wire at the bend, folding it back over itself so it cannot pull free.
Cut the black crosscut rabbit hair from the hide and lay it butts-to-thread between your tying thread and the waxed wire, keeping it fairly sparse, then spin the wire into a tight dubbing brush.
Tie in the claret polar chenille at the bend and bind it down with a wrap of the wire brush so everything is locked in.
Wrap the rabbit brush and the polar chenille forward together in touching turns, preening the fibers rearward with each wrap, and finish right behind the eye.
Tie off, build a solid thread head, and whip finish.
Pick out any trapped polar chenille strands with a bodkin, brush everything back with an old toothbrush, and cement the head (Brent adds epoxy later).
