Tyer Recipe

  • Hook curved streamer/scud hook, #8-12
  • Thread Maroon/Red 8/0

Materials

  • Bead (optional) Black or copper slotted tungsten bead (1)
  • Marabou tail Blood red/maroon (1 tuft)
  • Dubbing body Blood red/maroon
  • Wire rib Copper wire

How to tie it

  1. Slide a bead to the eye if used; start thread and cover the front two-thirds of the shank.
  2. At a point above the barb, tie in a marabou tail about one shank-length long.
  3. Tie in a length of fine copper wire for the rib at the tail base.
  4. Dub a slightly tapered body forward to just behind the bead.
  5. Counter-rib the wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns; tie off and trim.
  6. Build a small dubbed collar behind the bead.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead.
