Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Jig hook, slotted tungsten bead, #14-18
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Black or gold bead (1 slotted tungsten)
  • Tail Black ostrich herl (Dyed pheasant tail fibers)
  • Abdomen Black ostrich herl (Dyed pheasant tail fibers)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (Fine wire)
  • Thorax Black ostrich herl (Peacock or dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a slotted bead to the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in black pheasant tail fibers for a short tail at the bend.
  3. Wrap the fibers forward to form the abdomen and rib with copper wire.
  4. Build a black thorax behind the bead.
  5. Build a thread dam behind the bead.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead.
