Tyer Recipe

  • Hook standard dry/nymph hook, 8-14
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Black foam sheet Black craft foam mm (1 strip)
  • Peacock herl or black dubbing body Black/peacock ice dub (as needed)
  • Rubber legs Black ostrich herl (2-3 pairs)
  • Indicator post (optional) Orange permanent marker (small tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread behind the eye and tie in a strip of black foam at the bend.
  2. Build a peacock herl or dubbed body forward to behind the eye.
  3. Splay two to three pairs of black rubber legs along the sides.
  4. Pull the foam forward over the back to form the shell and tie down behind the eye.
  5. Optionally add a small bright post on top for visibility.
  6. Whip finish and cement.
