Reference Recipe
- Hook 2XL curved nymph hook, 8-10
- Thread Black 6/0
Materials
- Weight Lead (0.015 wire, mid-shank)
- Body Black ostrich herl (medium chenille)
- Wing Gray flotation (small clump gray squirrel tail)
- Legs White rubber legs small (1 pair round rubber)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread, then wrap a band of lead wire over the middle third of the shank and lock it down.
- Carry the thread to the bend and tie in a length of black chenille.
- Wrap the chenille forward over the lead in touching turns, stopping a bit behind the eye.
- Tie in a pair of white rubber legs at the sides so they splay outward, keeping them the length of the shank.
- Stack a small clump of gray squirrel tail and bind it as a wing over the top, tips reaching three-quarters back down the body.
- Build a neat head, whip finish, and add head cement.
