Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2XL streamer/wet hook, 8-10
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Tail Black ostrich herl (1 marabou plume)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (4-6 Krystal Flash strands)
  • Body Black ostrich herl (medium chenille)
  • Hackle Black hackle (1 saddle, palmered)
  • Legs Chartreuse/white barred rubber legs (2-3 pairs silicone legs)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread behind the bead.
  2. At the bend tie in a marabou tail one shank length long, then add the pearl flash to match.
  3. Bind in a saddle hackle by the tip and a length of chenille at the tail.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward over the body in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and secure behind the bead.
  6. Fold two to three pairs of silicone legs along each side and figure-8 them so they splay out low.
  7. Build a small collar, whip finish behind the bead, and add a drop of cement.
