Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, #6-10
  • Thread Olive or black 140 denier (3/0)

Materials

  • Bead Gold or black bead (Brass/tungsten, sized to hook)
  • Underweight Lead (8-10 turns .015-.020 lead wire)
  • Tail Olive or brown material (Rabbit zonker strip, one shank length)
  • Flash Pearl/copper flash (Few strands per side)
  • Collar Olive or brown material (Marabou plume)
  • Head Brown/olive spandex life flex (Hare's ear dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye, mount the hook, and add 8-10 turns of lead wire behind the bead.
  2. Start thread and tie in an olive or brown rabbit zonker tail at the bend, one shank length past the hook.
  3. Add a few strands of pearl or copper flash down each side.
  4. Tie in a marabou plume by the tip and wrap a full collar, sweeping it back over the tail.
  5. Dub a shaggy hare's-ear head between the collar and bead and pick it out for legs.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
