Feather & Hackle dressing

  • Thread Veevus - White 8/0

Materials

  • TAIL Saddle feathers - Yellow
  • TAIL Saddle feathers - Hot Pink
  • ABDOMEN Hareline Fl. Pink Dubbin
  • RIB Danville Silver mylar tinsel - medium
  • WING White arctic fox tail
  • HACKLE Saddle feathers - Yellow
  • HACKLE Saddle feathers - Hot Pink
  • HEAD Uni-thread 8/0 - Black

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the bend.
  2. Catch in the oval silver rib at the bend, then wrap a smooth pink body forward to just behind the eye.
  3. Counter-wrap the rib forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off.
  4. Tie in a sparse white arctic-fox or calf-tail wing over the top, reaching to about the end of the body.
  5. Wrap a soft collar of mixed yellow and hot-pink schlappen, two or three turns, then sweep the fibers back for a shrimpy, breathing look.
  6. Build a small head, whip finish and cement.
