Rooster hackle Honey/light ginger (1 feather, oversized by one)
How to tie it
Start white 8/0 thread and tie in three light gray ostrich herl fibers at the bend as a tapered trailing shuck about half a shank-length long, tugging them to length.
Bring the thread to the front and tie in a clump of cream EP Fibers as the wing just behind the eye; cover the butts and wrap back to the bend.
Tie in the fine gold wire rib at the rear.
Dub a sparse, tapered body of light gray Antron dubbing forward, building up slightly at the base of the wing.
Counter-wrap the gold wire rib forward over the body and tie off.
Tie in a narrow strip of 0.5mm razor foam behind the wing as the thorax, you'll use less than a third of the strip you cut.
In the gap between thorax and wing, tie in a honey-colored rooster hackle, gauged about one size over the hook.
Wrap the hackle a few turns, tie off, and trim.
Take the thread to the eye, whip finish, and trim the wing and underside to shape.
