Booby Sparkler

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank wide-gape stillwater hook (Kamasan B110/B175), 8-10
  • Thread Match body 8/0

Materials

  • Eyes Closed-cell foam booby eyes (1 pair, medium)
  • Tail Marabou (matching, often black or white) (one shank length)
  • Body Sparkler / straggle-fritz chenille (UV, holographic) (1 length)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in the foam booby eyes at the head with figure-8 wraps and round the ends.
  2. Take the thread to the bend and tie in a marabou tail one shank length long.
  3. Tie in the sparkler (UV straggle/holographic fritz) chenille at the bend.
  4. Wind it forward in touching turns to the eyes, teasing out the sparkly fibres, then figure-8 around the eyes.
  5. Whip finish in front of the eyes and varnish.
