How to tie it
Put the rear hook (B175 size 8) in the vise, start white UTC 140 thread and take it back to the back of the hook.
Take a white rabbit strip, part the fur near the end of the strip, offer it up to the hook and catch it in with a few tight turns at the rear.
Bring the thread back up to the top of the hook, measure where the two points meet, wet the strip and catch it in again, then wrap to the front of the hook and secure.
Pass about 15 lb backing braid through the eye of the rear hook and tie a three-turn grinner knot, drawing it tight.
Turn the hook upside down and put a drop of varnish (or super glue) on the tie-in points and the knot.
Take the hook out of the vise. Pass the other end of the braid through the eye of the top hook, which already has yellow booby eyes tied on, and draw it tight. Judge the length of the fly.
Hold the two pieces of braid together and whip down the body to lock them. Trim the waste, varnish the thread, and wrap back up again.
Bring the rabbit strip forward over the top of the hook, fairly loose, and tie it in once at the bend of the hook to secure the back, then bring the thread back up and tie it down where you want to finish. Trim.
Turn the fly upside down and tie in a pinch of mixed pearl and silver flash underneath, stopping before the second hook.
Dab a little Lite Brite dubbing at the neck over a drop of varnish, finish in front of the eye with a whip finish and varnish.
Brush out the dubbing with a velcro brush. For fishing, snip off the top hook and fish it on a single hook.
