Booby Mop

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank wide-gape / jig or grub hook, 8-10
  • Thread Match mop colour 8/0

Materials

  • Eyes Closed-cell foam booby eyes (1 pair, medium)
  • Tail/body Mop fibre (microfibre chenille 'mop' finger) (1 finger, one shank length)
  • Thorax (optional) Ice dub or short cactus chenille (small pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in the foam booby eyes at the head with figure-8 wraps and round the ends.
  2. Run the thread to the bend and tie in a single mop-chenille 'finger' extending about one shank length as the wiggling tail/body.
  3. Optionally build a short thorax of ice dub or cactus chenille between the mop and the eyes for bulk.
  4. Figure-8 the thread around the eyes to secure everything, then whip finish in front and varnish.
