Booby Cormorant 3D

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Wet-fly / stillwater hook (Kamasan B175), 10-12
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Eyes Closed-cell foam booby eyes, small (1 pair)
  • Wing/tail Black marabou (one shank length)
  • Body Black holographic / '3D' holographic tinsel (1 length)
  • Tag/hotspot Fluorescent red or green (optional) material (few turns)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in the small foam booby eyes at the head with figure-8 wraps; round the ends.
  2. Run the thread to the bend and tie in a slim black marabou wing/tail one shank length long.
  3. Add a small fluorescent tag at the tail if using (a common cormorant trigger).
  4. Tie in the black 3D holographic tinsel and wind a slim, flashy body forward to the eyes, then figure-8 around them.
  5. Whip finish in front of the eyes and varnish.
