Booby Cat Straggle

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank wide-gape stillwater hook (Kamasan B110/B175), 8-10
  • Thread White or green 8/0

Materials

  • Eyes Closed-cell foam booby eyes (1 pair, medium)
  • Tail White marabou (one shank length)
  • Body Semperfli Straggle String / UV straggle chenille (white or pearl) (1 length)
  • Front tag Fluorescent green straggle (optional) (few turns)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in the foam booby eyes at the head with figure-8 wraps; round the ends.
  2. Take the thread to the bend and tie in a white marabou tail one shank length long.
  3. Tie in the straggle string at the bend and wind it forward in touching turns to the eyes, teasing out the fibres as you go.
  4. If tying the classic Cat's Whisker colour break, finish the front few turns with fluorescent green straggle up to the eyes, then figure-8 around them.
  5. Whip finish in front of the eyes and varnish.
