Booby Cactus Cat

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank wide-gape stillwater hook (Kamasan B110/B175), 8-10
  • Thread White or fluo green 8/0

Materials

  • Eyes Closed-cell foam booby eyes (1 pair, medium)
  • Tail White marabou (one shank length)
  • Body (rear) White cactus chenille (short length)
  • Body (front) Fluorescent green cactus chenille (short length)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in the foam booby eyes at the front of the shank with figure-8 wraps and round the ends.
  2. Run the thread to the bend and tie in a white marabou tail one shank length long (Cat's Whisker colours).
  3. Tie in white cactus chenille and wind it over the rear two-thirds of the shank.
  4. Tie in fluorescent green cactus chenille and wind it over the front third up to the booby eyes, brushing fibres back between turns, then figure-8 around the eyes.
  5. Whip finish in front of the eyes and varnish.
