  • Hook Mustad C70SD Big Game, 1
  • Thread Danville monofilament thread

Materials

  • UV resin Solarez Medium resin
  • Eyes Stick on eyes (3/16 silver)
  • Tail Rabbit strips (regular zonker)
  • Collar/body Crosscut Rabbit strips
  • Flash Silver flashabou
  • Foul guard Mason's hard mono (25 lb in the video) or other stiff mono
  • Rabbit stirps
  • Silver Flashbou
  • Masons Hard Mono 9 or other stiff mono)

How to tie it

  1. Wrap mono thread back to about where the hook point is.
  2. Tie in a small loop of Mason's hard mono off the back of the hook; it supports the rabbit strip and reduces fouling. Keep the loop only as big as needed to support the strip.
  3. Tie in a regular rabbit zonker strip, about two and a half to three inches long, so it sits over the mono loop.
  4. Tie in four or five strands of silver Flashabou off the back.
  5. Tie in a crosscut rabbit strip with the hair facing backwards, adding a very small amount of super glue to the thread.
  6. Palmer the crosscut strip forward, layering the turns like shingles instead of stacking them on top of each other. Do not wrap too much hide at the front or the head gets bulky. Tie off, trim, and make a small head.
  7. Put a little super glue on the thread, then stick a 3/16 silver adhesive eye on each side.
  8. Pull the rabbit hair back and put a light coat of Solarez medium UV resin on the head, just behind the eyes, avoiding the fur. Cure it for about 8 to 9 seconds, top and bottom.
