How to tie it
Slide the bead on, then wrap seven turns of.025 lead wire and push it up to sit a little behind the bead. Leave working room right behind the bead. Trap the wire with thread.
Cut a 3/4-inch piece of rabbit strip, wrap the hide around the shank at the rear, and bind it down well (a spot of super glue helps); snip a small notch in the hide underneath at the bend so the paddle tail swings freely.
Cut one strand of tan UV Krystal Flash in half; tie one half in on the near side and walk the other around to the far side, then trim both just short of the tail tip.
Tie in 25 strands of flash on top of the shank, this becomes the wing case, and leave them pointing rearward.
Form a thread dubbing loop, wax it lightly, insert a clump of rabbit fur spread evenly, and spin it into a fur chenille.
Wrap the fur rope forward to the bead in touching turns, tie off, and trim.
Part the fur along the top and sweep it down and back, then pull the 25-strand flash wing case forward over the top and tie it down behind the bead; trim the excess.
Tie in two lengths of amber silicone on the near side, then fold the front two over to the far side so you have two legs per side.
Dub a short noodle of leftover rabbit fur to cover the tie-down area behind the bead, whip finish, and trim the legs even.
