Classic Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry fly, 10-14
  • Thread Chartreuse or black 6/0

Materials

  • Body Foam or chenille (round)
  • Legs Rubber legs (4-8)
  • Wing Poly yarn or flash (optional, small puff)

How to tie it

  1. Mount hook, build a small round body at midshank with foam or chenille. About the size of a pea.
  2. Tie in rubber legs with figure-8 wraps so 2-4 radiate from each side.
  3. Optional: a small poly puff on top so you can track it.
  4. Whip finish. Total tying time should be under three minutes. This is a numbers fly.
