Consensus of Trident Fly Fishing and Fly Fish Food

Materials

  • Tail/underwing Marabou, white and olive
  • Flash Cactus Chenille, pearl
  • Gill colour Chenille, orange, medium
  • Head Senyo's Laser Dub, olive on top and white on the belly
  • Eyes Stick-on/clear-cure eyes (Trident: 5mm fire orange; Fly Fish Food: red)
  • Finish UV resin, black marker for gill dot and stripes

How to tie it

  1. Start thread a little behind the eye and wrap back to the hook bend.
  2. Tie in a small amount of white marabou, pulled off the stem and about a tad longer than the hook, then olive marabou on top, about twice as much.
  3. Tie in pearl Cactus Chenille with a few wraps.
  4. Tie in orange chenille near the front and wrap forward; pull it back and wrap over it.
  5. Tie in one more small clump of olive marabou to lie back about even with the tail.
  6. Tie in olive Laser Dub on top of the hook right behind the eye and white Laser Dub underneath for the belly, keeping the colours separate.
  7. Fold the dubbing back, tie it down and whip finish.
  8. Stick on eyes, hold with a dab of super glue gel, flow thin UV resin behind them, add thick resin over the eyes and cure.
  9. Finish with a black marker dot behind the eye and a few stripes down the back.
