Blue Wing Olive Wet Fly

As tied by Trident Fly Fishing (BWO soft hackle wet fly)

• Hook TMC 3769, 16
• Thread light olive

Materials

• Body Olive turkey biot, tied notch down for a ribbed body
• Thorax Olive dubbing (optionally with a little flash)
• Hackle Partridge, sparse

How to tie it

1. Start light olive thread behind the eye of the TMC 3769 and break off the tag.
2. Tie in an olive turkey biot by the tip with the notch down and bring the thread back.
3. Wind the biot forward to a point behind the eye to form a ribbed, segmented body and tie it off.
4. Dub a small ball of olive dubbing for the thorax for the hackle to push against.
5. Strip the fuzz from a partridge feather, measure it to reach the bend or just past the body, strip the lower fibres and trim to a delta tie-in point.
6. Tie it in, sweep the fibres back, take one or two turns and tie off.
7. Form a small head with a whip finish and add head cement.
