- Hook Standard wet fly hook, 18-14
- Thread Olive 8/0
Materials
- Tail Blue dun material (Few hen fibers)
- Body Olive ostrich herl (Olive dubbing or floss)
- Hackle Blue dun hackle (1 soft hen feather)
- Wing Slate (Matched dun duck quill slips)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start olive thread, winding to the barb.
- Tie in a few blue dun hen fibers for a short tail.
- Dub or wrap a slim olive body forward to the 70% mark.
- Tie in a soft blue dun hen hackle by the tip, take 2 turns, then sweep the fibers back and down as a beard.
- Set matched slate quill slips low over the body, tips curving down to the bend.
- Build a small head, whip finish, and cement.
