  • Hook Standard dry fly hook, 20-16
  • Thread Olive 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Dun microfibetts (Few microfibetts)
  • Body Olive/natural material (Stripped or dyed quill)
  • Wing Dun microfibetts (Slate poly or hackle-tip)
  • Hackle Blue dun hackle (1 dry-fly feather)
  • Thorax Olive ostrich herl (Fine olive dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start olive thread, winding to the barb.
  2. Split a few dun microfibetts for tails one shank length long, using a dubbing ball to prop them apart.
  3. Tie in a soaked olive quill and wrap it forward in touching turns to the 65% mark for a crisp segmented body.
  4. Counter-wrap fine wire or add a thin coat of UV resin to protect the brittle quill.
  5. Post an upright dun wing, dub a small olive thorax, and wind a blue dun hackle 4-5 turns around the wing.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye and cement the wing base.
