Lay a thread base and tie in a slim blue foam strip (or old fly line) at the mid-shank, extending well past the bend to form the long slender damsel abdomen.
Return the thread to the thorax and tie in the poly-yarn wings flat and spent (or two grizzly hackle points), splayed with figure-eight wraps.
Add a couple of strands of pearl Krystal Flash over the wings for sparkle.
Tie in a grizzly hackle at the thorax.
Dub a small blue thorax and wind the hackle a few turns through it for support and legs, then tie off.
Whip finish a small head; the foam abdomen floats the long body flush in the film.
