How to tie it
Slide the 3mm gold slotted bead onto the jig hook, then take a few wraps of.015 lead-free wire and push them toward the bead. But leave a small gap behind the bead so the CDC collar can sit there later. Trap the wire with thread.
Tie in three strands of orange Glo-Brite floss for the tail, starting right behind the wire; cut it short. A hook-gap long at most.
Tie in the gold wire rib along the near side of the hook, then advance the thread to the front.
Tie in three strands of peacock herl by their evened tips, bind them back to the start of the tail, and bring the thread forward again.
Wrap the peacock forward to build an even, tapered body right up near the bead; tie off and clip the excess.
Counter to the herl, make about five evenly spaced wraps of gold wire over the body and clip the excess wire.
Grip a single CDC feather by the tip and tie it in; take two wraps of the feather as a sparse collar, tie off, and sweep all the fibers back.
Dub a small pinch of pink Super Bright right behind the bead as a hot spot, then whip finish.
Trim the CDC so it falls no farther back than the end of the body, snipping unevenly for a ragged, buggy look.
