How to tie it
Start the thread at the eye and paint the whole hook with thread, ending slightly into the bend.
Tie in a strand of purple Antron yarn at the rear, cut square; split the yarn around the hook bend and bind it back slightly into the bend so it trails behind.
Dub a fat, ant-shaped rear ball (gaster) from just in front of the point back over the rear third. Keep the dubbing wraps only moderately tight so it traps air and floats.
Split the trailing yarn around the hook, pull both halves forward over the top of the ball to envelop it as a shellback, tie down right behind the eye, lift, and trim.
Tie in a sparse clump of white EP Fibers on top as a rearward-slanting wing, wrapped back to the front of the ball, then add one strand of pearl flash along each side.
At the mid-shank, tie in a clump of McFlylon with four wraps on top, one wrap in front and behind, then post it up with 8-10 turns of thread, covering the area with thread.
Prepare a brown and a grizzly hackle, superimpose the grizzly over the brown, strip the bases, and tie both in at the base of the post with 4-5 firm turns.
Wrap both hackles together up the post and back down, packing in as many turns as the feathers allow; sweep the fibers back, capture the tips with two wraps, and trim, tucking the stubs under the head.
Dub a second, smaller ball for the head, wrapping up to the eye to leave a strong waist between head and gaster.
Whip finish into the head from the base of the post, trim the wing to about one shank-length, preen the hackle even, trim the post, and add head cement where the post meets the hackle and along the bare waist underneath.
