Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved scud/nymph hook, 16-12
- Thread Red 8/0
Materials
- Bead Silver or red bead (1 tungsten)
- Body Red buzzer wrap (Red holographic tinsel or wire)
- Rib Silver metal tape (Fine silver wire)
- Thorax Black ostrich herl (Peacock herl or black dubbing)
How to tie it
- Slide a tungsten bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start red thread behind the bead.
- Run thread down to the barb, then tie in fine silver wire for the rib.
- Wrap red tinsel or wire forward in touching turns to the 70% mark for a bright, segmented body.
- Counter-wrap the silver rib forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off, so the rib crosses the body for durability.
- Build a short black peacock-herl or dubbing thorax tight behind the bead.
- Whip finish and coat the body with UV resin for extra flash and toughness.
- Dead-drift or slowly retrieve it in stillwaters and tailwaters where a hot red attractor draws attention in stained water.
