Bodkin / Patterns
Bloodworm Larva
Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved scud/nymph hook, 16-12
- Thread Red 8/0
Materials
- Body Red buzzer wrap (Red wire or stretch floss)
- Rib Red buzzer wrap (Fine red wire (optional counter))
- Thorax Red/black material (Pinch of red or black dubbing)
- Bead Black or silver bead (1 (optional))
How to tie it
- Slide an optional bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start red thread behind it.
- Wind thread down the bend to the 20% mark past the barb so the body follows the curve.
- Tie in red wire and wrap a smooth, segmented body forward with touching turns, stopping at the 75% mark.
- Twitch the wire off, or counter-wrap a second finer wire as a rib to suggest the worm's ringed segments.
- Dub a slim red or black thorax collar behind the eye or bead, using half the dubbing you think you need.
- Whip finish and add a drop of UV resin over the wire body for a wet, glossy shine.
