Midge · Trout · Grayling · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved scud/emerger hook, 16-22
- Thread Red 8/0
Materials
- Body Red buzzer wrap (Red tying thread)
- Rib Silver metal tape (Extra-small silver wire)
- Thorax Black ostrich herl (Black Superfine dubbing, a pinch)
- Wing/collar Dun/white material (One CDC feather)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start red thread, wrapping back around the curve to the bend.
- Catch in fine silver wire and build a slim red body forward to the 65% mark.
- Rib with 5 open turns of silver wire and tie off.
- Tie in a CDC feather by the tip at the 65% mark so the fibers fan back over the body as an emerging wing/collar.
- Dub a small black thorax in front of the CDC to cover the tie-in and suggest the head.
- Whip finish and add a tiny drop of cement, keeping it clear of the CDC.
