Rib Extra small red wire
Thorax / wing Small piece of blood red CDC
How to tie it
Lay down a base of blood red thread.
Tie in a piece of extra small red wire so it starts just behind the eye, which avoids a bulge in the body.
Tie the wire down all the way back to the bend for a natural curved body.
Use the thread to build a slight taper in the body.
Counter-wrap the red wire forward to where the thorax begins, tie it off with a couple of wraps and snip or break it off.
Tie in a small piece of blood red CDC with the tips facing back toward the bend, with a couple of loose wraps; draw it back until the tips clear the eye, then secure it.
Pinch off a few free CDC fibres, dub them onto the thread and form the thorax.
Pull the CDC forward over the eye of the hook and secure with a couple of wraps, then whip finish and snip the thread.
Trim the CDC, leaving a little hanging over the eye to look like gills.
